Ponalab Biogrowth Private Limited was established in 2007 by Dr. Dinesh G. Shetty, under the guidance of Dr. G. P. Shetty who is considered as one of the leading pioneers in plant nutrition. With the assistance of National Horticulture Mission Govt Of India Ponalab was established to cater the needs of the farmers to have a state of art biocontrol facility at Mysore India. Ponalab also retains the services of experts in various divisions in agriculture. Together, they ensure the business is at the forefront of green agriculture.
Ponalab began to see a paradigm shift in the cultural practices of the farmers. They started looking at age old practices of their ancestors who never used any chemicals neither as fertilizers nor for plant protection. They used only farm yard manure and occasionally neem and hence were on the lookout for other result oriented natural solutions.
It was at this point that Ponalab began to take a number of commercial horticulture and agriculture products and develop them for use by amateur farmers and growers alike. The first of these products to hit the market were a combination of microbes which work better than individual microbes. This was well accepted by the farmers and gave Ponalab the momentum to release more and more novel products.
Ponalab brought into the market a growth promoting bacteria which had excellent properties for plant protection too and was an instant hit among the farming fraternity. Following this success, Pheromone Traps for trapping pests and ‘yellow sticky traps’ for whitefly control was also introduced. Due to the demand from some European buyers Ponalab was able to introduce traps specially designed for tuna species.
Ponalab ventured into seed production by taking over a reputed 10 year old company and got a head start in hybrid seed production both vegetable seeds as well as field crops. It also got many breeders together to produce new hybrid materials required by the farmers in different Agro climatic conditions suiting the farmer’s needs.
Ponalab has in depth knowledge of the genetics, plant nutrition and biology of pests. Understanding the needs of today's farmer, has led to the development of an innovative and highly successful product range. Ponalab has become a trusted friend of the farmer, living truly to its promoter’s dreams and desires.

Diganth, a biopesticide that develops and enhances the dissemination of beneficial nematodes for the management of sucking pests such as whitefly and Aphids.
Metanem is another combination of beneficial nematodes and Microsclerotia for the long term control of sugarcane shoot borer Chilo infuscatellus Biotermicide is yet another project aimed at developing a solution that aids in the dissemination of an attractant-based symbiotic bacteria Alcaligenes sp. Flavobacterium sp. and Providencia sp. for managing wood-eating termites in wood plantations such as Teak.
Xylorhab is a project for the evaluation of pathogenic bacteria associated with the rhabditid nematodes on coffee stem borer Xylotrechus quadripes.
